Lee Stevenson
Lee was born and grew up in West Cornwall.
He trained at Falmouth School of Art and North Staffs University where he specialised in landscape painting, but for the last 25 years he has also been exploring etching and linocut printmaking.
‘I like the idea of being a part of a tradition of craftsmen with long established skills and techniques which is open to infinite interpretation. The printing process can lead to a great deal of innovation. What develops from the original idea can be quite a surprise. Accidents are often fortuitous. It is my inability to predict the final outcome that makes print-making so fascinating!’
He is inspired by much in the local landscape especially birdlife and the sea.
Lee has been a member of the St.Ives Society of Artists and the Cornwall Crafts Association for many years.
He now runs day workshops in linocut printmaking from his studio in Long Rock.
